IlluminArts Announces New Executive Artistic Director Search
The Board of IlluminArts is excited to announce a search for the next Executive Artistic Director of the organization. Founded in 2013 by Amanda Crider, IlluminArts partners with museums, galleries, and other community organizations to create one-of-a-kind, curated, site-specific programs of vocal chamber music that entertain, engage and inspire. IlluminArts has presented music in new and refreshing ways throughout South Florida, showcasing hundreds of local and national musicians, and fostering a sense of collaboration throughout the arts community.
In 2023, Chad Goodman became the second Artistic Director of IlluminArts and has produced two seasons of engaging performances in collaboration with the Lowe Art Museum, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, LNS Gallery and Oolite Arts. The 2024-25 season continues with exciting performances at La Cometa Gallery (February 21st), Miami Beach Botanical Garden (March 7th) and The Wolfsonian (April 11th).
Goodman, a past conducting fellow of the prestigious New World Symphony, is now Music Director of Elgin Symphony in Illinois, and has relocated to Chicago. “We are so grateful to Chad for his two years of Artistic Direction for IlluminArts, and wish him great success in his growing conducting career,” says IlluminArts founder Amanda Crider.
IlluminArts is now seeking a new Executive Artistic Director to be responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the artistic vision of the organization. The ideal candidate is a creative, out-of-the-box thinker with a passion for sharing classical music in bold, innovative, and exciting programming. In addition, the Executive Artistic Director will oversee the administrative, financial, fundraising, marketing, and production needs for the organization. IlluminArts understands our community’s desire to experience traditional art forms in new and exciting ways. Founded in 2013 to present world-class performances of vocal chamber music to Miami's vibrant audiences, IlluminArts collaborates with museums, galleries, and other community organizations to present innovative, curated, site-specific programs of vocal chamber music. The board and staff of IlluminArts are passionate about classical music and the evolution of how to present it in a way that corresponds with the changing expectations of a 21st-century audience. We recognize the power of the arts to inspire thought, dialogue, and action by exposing audiences to performances that not only entertain but also engage and inspire change.
IlluminArts programming has been presented at the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), de la Cruz Collection, Lowe Art Museum, ICA Miami, MDC Museum of Art + Design, Bass Museum of Art, Bakehouse Art Complex, Oolite Arts and the Miami Center for Architecture and Design, among others. IlluminArts has received grants from Miami Dade County, Knight Foundation, Awesome Foundation, State of Florida, Funding Arts Network, City of Coral Gables, Miami Salon Group, and New Music USA to support our work.
Position Description
IlluminArts is seeking an Executive Artistic Director responsible for conceiving, developing, and implementing the artistic vision of the organization, adhering to the mission to present world class, curated, site-specific programs of music in collaboration with museums and galleries. In addition, the Executive Artistic Director oversees the administrative, financial, fundraising, marketing, and production needs for the organization. The duties of this position may grow and change with the needs of the organization.
The ideal candidate is a creative, out-of-the-box thinker with a passion for sharing classical music in bold, innovative, and exciting programming. The candidate should have at least a master’s degree in music or relevant professional experience, and a passion for arts/music/theater. The candidate must reside in Miami, FL.

This will be an at will employment in accordance with Florida State law.
Responsibilities include:
Artistic
-
Conceive, develop and implement annual IlluminArts programming in keeping with the organization’s mission and budget.

Produce 4 - 5 performance projects per season.
-
Maintain and foster collaborative relationships with presenting partners, museums, galleries, and other community organizations.
-
Select musicians and artists; work with musicians, artists and their managers to secure commitment to contractual arrangement with IlluminArts.
-
Communicate effectively with musicians, artists and their representatives, as well as with IlluminArts staff, to ensure that performance standards for excellence are met.

Perform other duties related to the execution of events, and assist all IlluminArts staff, as needed.
Financial
-
Develop and maintain annual budgets with support from the Board Treasurer

Supervise payment of staff and independent contractors
-
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization’s financial positions
Development
-
Ensure overall quality of patron/audience experience
-
Take a leadership role in cultivating donors and new audiences
-
Provide artistic vision and narrative copy when necessary for grant and program proposals
-
Be a significant onsite presence at IlluminArts performances
Administrative
-
Supervise marketing efforts including paid marketing, email marketing, social media, and website
-
Assist in copywriting for marketing materials
-
Supervise and manage IlluminArts staff and consultants
Board Involvement
-
Assist the Board in continuing to evolve and develop the IlluminArts’ artistic vision.

Work with Board Committees to further development, financial, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, and marketing goals.

Create Board Meeting agendas in collaboration with the Board President.
Qualifications include:

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an Artistic Director or Artistic Administrative role

Demonstrated history of innovative programming
-
Extensive knowledge of vocal music
-
Strong written and verbal communication
-
Excellent public speaking abilities
-
Knowledge of Excel, Google Suite, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Creative Cloud, Quickbooks, Web Design (Wix or similar), MailChimp (or similar), and Social Media platforms

The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

The ability to complete assignments independently, efficiently, and on time
-
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and prompt follow-through
